Meditation is by far the easiest way to clear out your mind, prevent overwhelm, sleep well, and feel present, happy and energized! So why doesn't everyone do it? There are 3 common mistakes that people make when figuring out the whole meditation thing and once you know them, you will avoid them and it will be way easier to get these major benefits on the ASAP!

#1- It's Too Hard?

A lot of people think it's too hard to quiet their mind or that they aren't the type of person who can sit still. So here's the thing, it is simpler than you think and you can start out with a small amount of time. The goal is not to completely quiet your mind and you won't be able to do that for awhile- if we could we all would be masters! What you are doing is breathing and training your mind to release thoughts and you can start by doing it for 3 minutes. When a thought comes up, you'll notice the thought and then you try (key word try) to let that thought go. Try not to think about any given thing for too long, and then do the same thing with the next thought. This is meditation. This is training your mind. We all have "monkey minds" that need to be trained and you can train your mind to work with you instead of being your own worst enemy! Over time you will become way more peaceful with much less focus on the past and worry about the future. You will release fear and be in much better health. When you allow yourself time to release thoughts you connect to clarity and purpose.

#2- It's Not Working?

Did you do it twice last week and once the week before and then a couple times the month before that? The key here is consistency! Our mental wellbeing is so beyond important- it shapes our thoughts and our thoughts shape our lives, whether you realize it or not (which I know my high vibe peops do)! So because of this, it is so important! The health of your mind is directly linked to the health of your body and so taking 3-5 minutes to breathe deep and connect to yourself is beyond worth it. Before you go to bed at night or better yet right when you wake up in the morning, sit up straight and breath through your nose (mouth closed) into your stomach- expanding your stomach on the inhale and contracting it towards your spine on the exhale! #3- I Fall Asleep!

LOL- I know but seriously this is one of the most common mistakes people do is they get tired and it's because of poor posture! If you are not sitting up straight, allowing for the energy to move up your spine, it is common, especially in longer meditations for people to fall asleep. The solution here is to make sure your chin is tucked in a bit and make sure your spine is in a straight alignment! If you need help strengthening your core for this posture at first, sit up against a wall!
