I hope you all had an amazing holidays! I know a lot of people have NY’s resolutions surrounding their eating habits so I wanted to share some small changes I have made in my diet that have made a big difference and are easy to adopt! I am all about subsitutions that make big differences to help us feel good and raise the vibration of our energy. When you are meditating and doing yoga you will raise your vibration in a huge way but we have to also make sure what we are putting in our bodies are in line with a spiritual path for optimal health and results! Here’s the good news- its easier than you think! “A lot of women (and men) believe they need to change everything, but in reality small tweaks to your diet can make a huge difference,” says Dawn Jackson Blatner, RD, a spokesperson for the American Dietetic Association.

Here are 5 small changes you can make today that will help to have more energy, prevent disease, and be leaner and looking better than ever:

  1. Cows Milk to Almond or Coconut Milk– I haven’t consumed regular milk in 5 years and it was one of the best things I’ve ever done. There are so many antibiotics, hormones (around 60 per glass), allergenic proteins such as casien (which has been proven to promote cancer) in milk and the benefits are not what we have been led to believe from the classic 80s milk ads. Harvard scientists, Dr. David Ludwig and Dr. Walter Willett, “found no data to support the claim that the consumption of dairy leads to better bones, weight loss, or improved health. They also found some serious risks tied to dairy consumption, including weight gain, increased cancer risk, and increased fracture risk. It turns out milk does not build strong bones! They also found that dairy may cause other problems like constipation, irritable bowel syndrome, bloating, gas, diarrhea, allergies, eczema, and acne.” – From this research article published in the Journal of the American Medical Association. The best alternative is making fresh almond milk on your own- check out this video here to do that!   2. Bottled/Tap Water to Alkaline Water (perhaps infused with cucumbers or other fruit/veggies)- Quality water is very important to having optimal health- after all our bodies are 60-70% water and you can’t survive more than 3 days without it. There are waters that are higher quality and more hydrating than others and I want to have the highest quality possible in my body! “Knowing a water’s pH is importance when it comes to maintaining proper body cell and tissue pH in the body. A pH level measures how acidic or alkaline something is. For example, a pH of 0 is totally acidic, while a pH of 14 is completely alkaline, and a pH of 7 is neutral. Water that has a pH of 7 means it’s neutral, whereas tap water is commonly in between the 4 and 7 range. These levels vary throughout the human body. Our pH level needs to be kept at 7.4 (AT LEAST neutral) to be healthy and prevent diseased cells and virus-bacteria-fungus from multiplying.” Medicaldaily.com.
